I simply laid a tape measure out to my desired length - mine was 6'8" (I am six foot and wanted to make sure my kiddos didn't out grow the chart). Then I simply marked each foot and painted the corresponding number.
I then went back and marked off every 3, 6 and 9 inches.
After everything was painted, I took my handy hand sander and gave the edges a little character - which also created a "boarder" for the chart.
And here it was a few months ago, just sitting there ready to be transformed.
So in the end I think my inspired Pottery Barn Kids Growth Chart turned out great and really for a fraction of the price! Chris over at Just a Girl featured my blog today - I am thrilled! Be sure to head over to her blog if you haven't already - it is one you will want to follow.
I wanted to thank Army Mom's Place for awarding me with One Lovely Blog Award today. It is very exciting and rewarding! Thank you, thank you.
I just linked this up to Get Your Craft On over at Today's Creative Blog!
I added this to Saturday Nite Special over at Funky Junk Interiors - tons of great ideas!
I linked up to the Inspired Ideas Party at The Shabby Chic Cottage, I am off to check out all of the great projects.

This is so cute! Just found your blog since Just a Girl featured you today. And now I'm hooked. Even borrowed a picture to use on my own blog. Will try to recreate the shelves with pictures on them soon.

Awesome idea! Love the do it yourself idea!
That looks so sharp! I made one like this about 5 years ago, but I only made it 6ft tall. I'm thinking I need to re-do it. My boys are going to outgrow it for sure. Love how yours looks!
LOVE IT! I'm totally going to have to steal that idea - its looks super cute :)
I like yours so much better than the PB one! I'm going to have to try this ...
Great project! I may make one for my craft area! Thanks for such wonderful photos
I missed this post the first time! I have been wanting to do something like this ever since the Pottery Barn Chart came out years ago. You make it look very doable. Maybe I will attempt...thanks!
