I have been really lovin' exposed ceiling beams and coffered ceilings lately. Whether they are existing structural beams or added for detail, I just love look. I keep ripping out ideas and saving them in a box our dream house file. Here are a few images with exposed beams that make me want to build...

This is great inspiration! I like seeing the exposed wood beams in other homes, but I don't think I would want them in my own home. Would love to have a painted coffered ceiling though.
Those are great pictures! We live in an antique barn so we have exposed chestnut beams throughout:) I love them too:)

I too LOVE exposed beams! I have a big vaulted ceiling and have been dreaming of beams up there! I wonder how hard and costly it would be to do it?
These are great inspiration pictures, Chelsea! They seem to add instant warmth.
It's such a warm and cozy look. I hope you get some in your dream house.

Thanks for the images. What incredible spaces. The mix of the beams in interiors automatically gives that mixing "old with new" look that I ADORE.
Thank you!
I love exposed beams, they give a room so much character. Exposed beams are definitely on my to do list. These are lovely pictures and great ideas

We have nice high ceiling in our house and I would LOVE to have exposed beams. If I had unlimited time, money, and skill I would put in some faux beams. But for now I'll just enjoy the great photos!
awesome pics.
they add such personality to a room
Me Likey! I especially love that second one. The chunky wood is to die for!
I love the beams and the bookshelves in that one photo.
Love all these photos! I got an estimate for installing 3 beams in my morning room....$7000. As much as I would love them that is a huge amount of money. I'll just keep dreaming.
Love the ceiling beams! There are some other great examples online of the urethane "Faux beams" here: http://www.owtraditions.com
