My Mom bought these candlesticks awhile back for $8.99 each. I was drooling love the fleur de lis but the red was a little iffy...
I found these in the of the cupboard just waiting to get a new color.
I must say this is the first time I have actually painted a candle, and I loved it. I painted them with gold craft paint first and then applied a layer of black acrylic - so the gold is just barely peaking through the cracks.
And here are my new candle holders with their new candles.
I just love them! I think these may make their way into our Master Bedroom makeover, but for now we can all enjoy them in the family room.

ReplyDeleteLove the candle holders. I don't think I have ever seen anyone paint a candle before, Clever! I love all your photos and the richness of them! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI just bought some large heavy candlesticks that were marked right down.
ReplyDeleteThe plan was to paint them black too but I put them on my mantle and I am now debating whether or not to do it.
The splotchy red and dark brown that is on them now is growing on me.
love the way these look now! I just recently painted candles too! Isn't it amazing what a little paint can do, not sure that I'll ever actually light them (afraid to burn my house down)!
ReplyDeleteNICE! You have done it again! The color of both of them is so much better!
ReplyDeleteWow, these turned out great! I never thought of paining a candle. These look stunning on your table!
ReplyDeleteMuch better in the black, I think, Chelsea! Did you just paint around the fleur/gold areas or come back after and put some gold back in there?
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous. What a great idea. I had never thought of painting candles. Such an ingenius idea. Love the new look. Hugs, Marty

OH WOW that's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose turned out beautiful. I love everything fleur de lis. And painting candles? Never thought of it, just may try it...although I like burning candles too, so maybe thats a bad idea. Paint plus Flame doesn't sound like they should go together.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway...those look amazing!
Great idea! I was thinking of painting some candles, but didn't know how it would turn out. Now I do! Great job.
