Welcome, Please Come in ~

I absolutely love flipping through pages of foyers. I love the front doors, the ornate banisters, the beautiful chandeliers - I could go on and on. A foyer or front entry is one of my FAVORITE rooms in a house. Here are a few front foyer that made my heart skip a beat ~ House Beautiful

A Fanciful Twist - Halloween Celebration ~

Okay everyone, it is time to get your spook on! Vanessa over at A Fanciful Twist is hosting a Hauntingly Magical Celebration. Her photos are spook-tacular and her tale is enchanting. Welcome to my haunted party ~

Grab your broomstick and come on in...

Be watchful of the ghoulishly filled jars and magical potions

with Black Magic spells you could awaken the eight-legged goblins.

The bats have come out as soon as nightfalls and escort you to the spooky diner with assorted eyeballs.

Today's Daily Specials are Maggot Stew and Witches Brew

Skeleton Heads
and corpses corn goo (eek - this stuff is deadly).

One witch had a fatal accident after her deadly dinning treat...
so be watchful for the crows hovering heartbeats.

More skeletons to greet you

and pumpkin ghosts too

and be sure to pay respect to the glittery pumpkin statues.

The glitter moves on to these creepy creatures

and be sure to pay respects to the graveyard haunters...
I hope you enjoyed your stay and have a spooky Halloweeny day!

Fall is Among Us ~

My kids have been sick all week, but yesterday I was able to get out of the house for a quick break and saw these amazing Fall trees. Here in the Northwest we are lucky to see trees like this around every corner, but I know a lot of you don't get to see these magnificent changes - so I thought I would share.

Goodwill Bench, In Progress ~

So I have been playing with my Goodwill bench.
Here are a few of step along the way.
Here is the before, straight home from my local Goodwill.

Then I started by applying Liquid Sander to the legs. For the top I had to pull out my handy dandy hand sander due to the thin layer of laminate.

I then painted the legs black and stained the top with Miniwax Dark Walnut.

But I wasn't loving the wood grain on the top, so I painted it black and then lightly sanded the edges of the legs.
It still needs something else - maybe a stenciled top or maybe bag the painting and add an upholstered top....hum.

Goodwill Finds ~

Here are my finds for last week. The piano bench was a score for only $4.89! I think it has great detail on the legs and I am in need of a piano bench for my grandparents piano.

A shot of the detailed legs...

And a few other accent pieces...I hope to show you the "transformed" bench soon!

La Quinta, oh La Quinta ~

So I thought I would share where we were lucky enough to stay when on vacation. This is my parents La Quinta home. It is beautiful, relaxing...simply perfect. Take a look -

Love all of the details in the kitchen -

Do you see that headboard? It is even more amazing up close...

Yes, all of the doors are as beautiful as that closet door -
Mom and Dad, thank you over and over again! We truly had an amazing time. And yes, you can twist our arms whenever you like and we will go back!
