As mentioned on Monday, I am hosting our first Thanksgiving. Now I never have used place cards as we typically have very informal events, but I thought for Thanksgiving it would be fitting...and fun to create. Here is one I literally threw together with my tag from my cloche yesterday, a little wire and an apple from the fruit basket. Now this won't make it to the table, but it got me thinking about what will.
So I started taking a look are place card ideas for the table. Here are a few I likey...

And now I need to start thinking about the kids table. Usually they sit with us, but this year we are having a large group and will need to have two tables. I really like the idea of butcher paper for the kids to color their way through the turkey!

Very cute ideas. What do people do with the place cards after sitting down to dinner? Do you just find room on the table for them somewhere in front of you or do they get removed.
ReplyDeleteChelsea, I love the first two. Love, love the leaves. Is the first one artichokes? That is very unique. I've seen the candles done with apples but not those. You will have a lovely table I'm sure! I'm not hosting Thanksgiving but Christmas and need to start doing the same, getting ideas.
ReplyDeleteI likey too!!! Love the artichoke!
ReplyDeleteI went to TJ Maxx today and lunch and guess what?? Found the herb terrarium!! I was soooo excited!!
Grabbed one up and am thinking I should get more for gifts!!
Thanks for sharing about this!

The Big leaf ones are my favorite! I have an idea for place cards on my site!
ReplyDeleteThose are great ideas! The kids and I might try the apple idea! They can even eat them while waiting for dinner!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I love the artichoke and leaves! And great idea for the kids table, you could even draw or have them draw their place setting...the placemat, plates, cups...I want to sit at the kids table ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't use placecards either, but these are making me want to. Great images!

Chelsea, more great ideas! I was thinking about doing a brown paper runner on our table. It will be us, grandparents and the little ones. I thought it would be nice for them to keep busy while we have a chance to eat dinner. Plus if i do it right maybe I can make it a bit elegant???
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Tammy
I think even I can do a stick pin in a pear! I love it! The artichoke might take me a little longer :) Love these ideas!
