Pine Cone Garland ~

DIY | Holiday Project Inspiration

I don't know about you, but at our house Halloween is packed away for next year and I thinking about getting the house ready for Thanksgiving! I have to admit, I have a thing for pine cones at this time of year. I love all of the shapes and sizes, the color and texture and they are free! With that said, you will be seeing a few "pinecone" projects in the next few weeks and here is the first one.

I gathered my materials and hot glue gun.

I started by bunching up and tying the burlap ribbon with a little piece of jute.

Then hot glued my ribbon in place.

And finished it off with a pine cone glued in place.

I love the rustic and elegant combination of the brown burlap, the textured pine cone and the subtle hint of gold.

Very pretty! I said something to my mom about collecting pine cones and she freaked out and said bugs would come out of them???? Have you ever had that problem?

Hi Chelsea, this is so much prettier than I thought it would be. I pictured pinecones kind of strung together. This is pretty and elegant using items that one normally thinks of as rustic. Great job.

This is just beautiful! Thanks for the clear and easy how-to!

To the One Life Many Journeys comment....bugs will come out of acorns but I've never heard of it happening with pine cones.

Chelsea,
This garland would be beautiful on a tree or pretty much anywhere. I have a pinecone thing too...can never have enough.
Best wishes,
Tammy

Oh it looks sooo beautiful! I love pinecones too! They're stunning and free (if you can find a good tree that drops them!) Love it, girly!! Great job!

Love the simplicity of it. Looks like you could add a little holiday ribbon and maybe some shimmer and you could take this project right into Christmas......my kind of holiday decorating!

It looks great! Did you find the burlap ribbon locally? I've been looking around (Ben Franklin, JoAnn's, etc)and can't find any.

I have packed Halloween away as well... too excited to move on to decorate for the next holiday! Love this idea. The contrast of the textured burlap with the shiny ribbon & natural pinecone is really nice. Great idea!

I took down my Halloween items also and have been putting up things geared toward Thanksgiving. I just love the garland and in fact, I tried one of my own and love it. Thanks for sharing :) Have a great rest of the week!
